Hi, my name is Glenn Jorgensen and I am the Highway Superintendent for the Town of Smithtown. I started as a laborer with the department back in 1969 and worked my way up through the ranks while attending school at nights for Civil Engineering. My titles have included being a Laborer, Automotive Equipment Operator, Heavy Equipment Operator, Highway Project Inspector, and then as a Highway Maintenance Crew Leader until I retired in 2006. I kept the focus of my career mainly on engineering, and designed roads and drainage systems. Being that I was with the Highway Department for 37 years, I have had the opportunity to experience all of the jobs and demands the department had to offer.
